Bring your ideas to life with rapid prototyping from Hoffmann + Krippner
Prototyping is a crucial step in the larger product design and development process. Prototypes allow organizations to stress-test their ideas, evaluate form factor and appearance, assess feasibility and production requirements, and ultimately produce a solid proof of concept. But prototyping can be a surprisingly challenging undertaking: it requires sourcing different materials and parts, possibly incorporating mechanical engineering alongside industrial design, and combining skillsets to produce a single, tangible prototype.
Hoffmann + Krippner can do all of that in under a week – and sometimes in as little as 24 hours.
Why Hoffmann + Krippner for your prototypes?
Rather than pulling components and parts from a variety of different vendors, we can utilize in-house resources and vertically integrated partners to rapidly prototype a variety of products, including physical components and enclosures composed of plastic or stainless steel, as well as overlays with design foil (excluding membrane switches with keys). We can handle design questions, metal and plastic parts, the user interface, housing, and the front plate. If rapid prototyping is not required, we can incorporate electronics as well.
How does rapid prototyping work?
After we receive or create a design, we use the design file to print the part with state-of-the-art 3D printing and fabrication equipment. We can also render a 2D design file into a 3D rapid prototyping file automatically. Further, if the customer already has a physical model in a different material, like a clay or wood mockup, we can produce a 3D scan of it and generate a plastic or steel prototype.
From there, we can further customize the prototypes in a number of ways. They can be printed with a variety of material properties, replicating stiff-but-brittle or flexible-with-more-give, for a realistic prototype. We can also paint, lacquer or powder-coat the rapid prototype as needed. Because we have all the capabilities required internally, we can produce effective, complete, and useful prototypes very rapidly.
